Law & Order: Los Angeles 1.19 “Carthay Circle” Review

The return of another original cast member alongside Detectives Jaruszalski and Winters, who are on Law & Order: Los Angeles for two weeks now, on ‘Carthay Circle’ brings excitement to the episode. Add to this the double murder mystery that the team solves this time and this episode becomes one of the best the show has ever produced.

There were sufficient twists and turns in the show to keep audience entertaining for one hour and there was also an interesting debate on the civil liberty issues concerning gay marriage.

Watching the episode it seems the creators could have avoided cancellation had they not written off the original cast. The original cast members still sound and look more impressive than these “newbies” as some diehard fans of the show like to put it.

There is a great chemistry between between TJ and Winters and it looks more natural when compared to the relationship between Morales and TJ. How Winters and TJ treat each other while solving the case is entertaining to watch. Their dialogs have a flow. Winters may be on a higher position but this doesn’t make TJ less important a character.

Winter offers some lessons to Lt Gonzales’ son how he could remain safe while on duty.

The investigation turns entertaining after the detectives find Derek’s corpse. Amazingly, the corpse gives a clue to where the real killer(s) could be. The clue misguides the whole team.

In the end Morales returns to the office of District Attorney. It was a little disappointing to watch the man there, nay slightly confusing too. Given what happened in the last episode, it is amazing he could return so quickly as a lead prosecutor. Anyways, it makes an impressive scene when he is seen sitting in the courtroom.

It is here that Morales gives one of this most rousing speeches. He condemns Reverend Davison and calls him a hypocrite for not respecting others’ human rights despite being a human rights activist for so long. Morales’ speech also shows that the show has a stand when it comes to gay marriage.

Overall it was fantastic to watch the old cast returning to make this episode so fantastic. Let’s end this hoping that the remaining episodes of the series are at least as good as this one.
